North Central looks improved in 70-47 loss to GSL favorite Lewis and Clark 
Coming off a season with zero wins last year North Central opened the season against 5th ranked Lewis and Clark. Those not familiar with the hard work being put in at NC expected a blowout. If you look at the score you might think it was a blowout. The game was much more competitive than the score reveals. NC started 2 Sophomores, 2 Juniors and one Senior (Brendan Duncan). Duncan is the only player that has started a varsity game. The Indians will need to rely on his experience early in the season while the younger players mature. When Duncan went down early with an ankle injury the younger players were forced to step up.
Starting sophomore point guard Rafa Stone was on the freshman team last year. He started the game with 3 quick turnovers but like all good point guards didn’t let it affect him. He seemed to improve on every possession. One highlight being a contested fast break up and under layup past 6′ 7″ Naje Smith.
Rashawn Lemry had 16 points scoring both inside and outside while battling hard on the boards all night. Leon Sayers showed promise scoring on a nice drive and working hard on the boards. The 5th starter is Isaiah Lockett and while he may not show up in the stat sheet he was a key contributor. Parish Neil was a big spark off the bench with three 3 point field goals. CJ Kamacho looked solid off the bench as well knocking down a nice three point basket.
NC improved every quarter which is a testament to the hard work being put in by the team and coaching staff. The team first philosophy really shows when you watch them play. If you break the game down by quarters you can see NC got better as the game progressed. LC won the first quarter by 11, 2nd quarter by 5, 3rd quarter by 3 and 4th quarter by 4.
North Central showed an improved roster and hustled from buzzer to buzzer. They should win some games and scare some opponents that take them too lightly. Time will tell but it looks like they will be fun to watch. Lewis and Clark is big, fast, and can shoot which is a coaches dream. They will do well and be at the top of the GSL standings.
